Joe Jack Photography started with a simple vision…to push the boundaries of traditional “photography” by creating truly unique images, and to provide my clients with impeccable attention to detail and top notch customer service.

More than 30 years ago I picked up my first camera, and even back then I realized immediately what amazing things could be created standing behind the lens. With the introduction of new technology into the photography industry over the years, the once impossible ideas of what I wanted to create with a camera suddenly became a reality through a lot of patience and trial and error. I started to see that the limits of what was possible with a camera were quickly diminishing, and if there was a vision for what I wanted in an image it could most certainly be created.

While the camera is my primary “brush” for creating works of art through photography, I also rely on my skills behind the computer as well to add final touches here and there when necessary to create photographs that are truly unique and stand out among the crowd.

As a professional photographer, working with my clients to create their vision is something that I have a true passion for. If you have something specific in mind for your session, you can rest assured that I will work with you to capture exactly what you’re looking for. My hope is that my passion and creative vision for what I do translates effectively to my clients in the form of creative and unique images, impeccable attention to detail, a fun and enjoyable photography experience, and top notch customer service.

I’m often asked why a potential client should choose Joe Jack Photography over another photographer, and my response has always been that it comes down to personal preference, what the client is looking for in their photographs, and the rapport that exists between the client and myself.  And while those things are certainly true, there’s a bit more to it than that.

Every year there seems to be more and more “photographers” offering their services, and it can become difficult sometimes knowing which one is a going to provide you with the kind of images you want from your portrait session.  It’s important to remember that being a true “photographer” is much more than just being able to buy a camera and take pictures with it.  Aside from the technical knowledge required to take good photographs (things like composition and lighting, aperture, f-stop, ISO, shutter speed, etc), the art of photography has taken on a whole new meaning over the last several years with the advancement of photo editing software like Photoshop and Lightroom.  Knowing how to use this software has become a vital skill in becoming a successful photographer in this day and age.  Often times, this can distinguish the “good” photographers from the “bad” ones.

But finding the right photographer goes even deeper than the technical side of photography.  There are certain key characteristics of a good photographer that you should look for and should help you in deciding which one to choose for your portraits.  Here is a list of a few:

Dedicated – In order to become good at something you have to dedicate yourself to it.  You have to practice…a lot.  You have to be willing to work hard and go the extra mile.  You have to keep up with the latest technology and be able to incorporate it into your business.  Finding a photographer with a number of  years of experience will go a long way towards getting the kind of photographs you’ll be happy with in the end.

Passionate – A good photographer loves what they do, and you can see it when you talk with them.  It’s more than just a business…it’s something that’s a part of them and that they love doing.  Finding a photographer that has a true passion for what they do will almost always translate into beautiful images that you’ll cherish for years to come.

Creative – Any photographer can pose a client next to a tree and call it a portrait.  A truly good photographer has the ability to help each client come up with a portrait session that’s truly unique by making suggestions based on what the client has told them they’re looking for in their portraits.  Being creative not only separates good photographers from mediocre ones, but it also allows each client to come away with portraits that are special and unlike any other.

Progressive – A good photographer never settles and always strives to improve and become better at their profession.  This goes hand in hand with dedication and passion, and without the desire to learn and keep moving forward most photographers will stagnate and it will show in their work.

Reputable – Asking for references is always a good idea no matter what service you’re paying for.  Photography is no different, and a good photographer should have plenty of people that he/she has worked with that they can refer you to so that you can get an unbiased opinion about the photographer and their work.

With over 20 years of experience behind the camera, a passion for photography and working with my clients, a creative eye, and the desire constantly learn and improve, I’m confident in saying that you’ll be completely satisfied with your portraits by choosing Joe Jack Photography.
